Collestefano’s Verdicchio di Matelica is a surprising wine, juicy and dynamic, with variegated and wide aromas. The perfect climatic conditions of the production area, Rustano di Castelraimondo, make this Verdicchio a great wine, a unique expression of its territory. Verdicchio di Matelica originates at the foot of an Apennine hill, surrounded by woods, caressed by a very pleasant temperature range, combined with the expertise of Fabio Marchionni.
Classification: Verdicchio di Matelica DOC
Style: white wine, dry
Production method: organic
Soil: sand-silt-clay, rich in limestone

Tasting notes: Straw green, the bouquet is very pure with notes of ginger and cardamom, and fruity notes of unripe nectarine. The palate combines a typical electric freshness with remarkable fruit. Long, modulated finish of ginger and sweet almond. As it matures in the bottle it will acquire a metallic, honeyed and candied citrus character of great finesse, without losing the proverbial dynamism that has made it the cult wine par excellence of the entire denomination.
Pairings: Great with seafood, amazing with raw fish.
This is how the Marchionni family introduces themselves and their beloved territory: The story of the Marchionni family, the owners of Collestefano, is one of redemption. As a family of farmers, the Marchionnis arrived in the 1960s at Rustano di Castelraimondo (MC), in the valley of Verdicchio di Matelica. This hard-working family managed to acquire, in 1978, the small hillside village that has always been called “Collestefano.” In 1998 Fabio Marchionni, son of the owners and fresh graduate from Oenology, bottled his first vintage of Verdicchio di Matelica.
For Matelica, that was the beginning of a new era.
In Collestefano we have always followed organic practices and in 1995 we also gained the certification. Our vineyards are part of a broader self-sustainable, eco-friendly and balanced system. The soil is treated only with organic manure, thus minimizing the presence of copper.
The gem of Verdicchio di Matelica: Valle Camertina, in the middle of the Marche region. This is the only valley in the region that is protected from sea winds, so it enjoys a temperate climate. Collestefano is nestled among private vineyards above Castelraimondo at 450 m above sea level).
